Copyright Laws In Australia

A large part of being an Audio engineer is being aware of the copyright laws that surround the industry. Throughout this trimester we have done a number of projects that would be effected by Australian copyright laws.
In regards to the soundalike project we did at the start of tri, if we were to record and release this song in the real world we would first need to get an Audio Manufacturer licence from APRA-AMCOS this licence allows reproduction of music for the following purposes :
Retail Sale To supply record shops or distribution companies with the recording for the purpose of sale. Sale at Performances To sell the recording direct to customers at performances. Demo/audition For submission of recordings to music publishers, record companies, artists, radio stations and booking agents etc to promote the artist or composers of the works on the recording.
After we obtained this licence, we would then have to get permission from Capitol records both the publisher who owns the rights to the musical work and the record label who owns the rights to the actual recording.
In regards to the Remix assignment, because i used both the Musical recording and the Musical works i have to get permission to use each separate entity. Will Povey, who i remixed for my assignment is not signed to a label, so if i was to release my remix for money, i would have to have a meeting with Wil and discuss the terms of a Creative Commons licence of me using his intellectual and physical property. We would put it in writing and have each party sign it. After obtaining permission from the original owner, a remixs should be registered with APRA-AMCOS
In regards to the Jingle work, i would already own all the rights to the foley recordings and the music because i recorded and composed it all. To protect me and earn money from these things i created i would have to make an account with AMCOS and register my tracks with PPCA.
