Everlong by Foo Fighters was released on August 8, 1997. It is in the key of D Major. With a tempo of roughly 150bpm. It has a fairly common structure of Intro, Verse, Pre Chorus, Chorus, Verse, Pre Chorus, Chorus, Bridge (instrumental break), Chorus, Chorus. It contains the main instrumentation of a rock song using heavily distorted guitars and fast, cymbal/hi-hat heavy drumming and aggressive vocals.

The song starts with a clean guitar pluck and is soon accompanied by a double tracked, highly distorted guitar. A fast paced drum roll leads the song into the first verse that also is accompanied by the Bass Guitar. These 5 elements are the bases of the whole song and are present throughout.

For a rock song the Dynamics Range is fairly large between the clean guitar strum at the start of the song and peak of the Chorus. The intensity of the vocals and the fullness of the distorted guitars give the song a heavy, emotional vibe. I have attached a breakdown of the arrangement of this song, showing its simplicity and effectiveness.
